Lorry park consultations and deja-vu

Deja-vu is becoming phrase of the year for our friends at S&DRA and with good reason.  In preparing our response to Highways England’s latest consultation we dug out what we said in January 2016 and what Stanford Parish Council said.  We were tempted just to reprint those as nothing has changed in what we believe in the intervening 2 1/2 years.

Nevertheless, we’ve had a stab at responding to the government’s entrenched scepticism of technological systems as part of the solution.  They are right to be sceptical, but only about technology commissioned by government.  Private enterprise can do it much better.

The good news is there does seem to be some movement on the provision of the multiple lorry parks everyone agrees are necessary, irrespective of Op Stack.  Even Charlie Elphicke is pushing for lorry parks of a more sensible size now.
